It all starts in our mind. Will we have a good day or a bad day? Let’s go even further… will we have a good life or a bad life? Thoughts rolling around in our minds dictate the words we speak, the attitudes we display and the behaviors we take through life. It usually starts early in the morning. As soon as we wake up random thoughts begin to fly through our head. Thoughts of things we need to accomplish for the day or thoughts of people we are at odds with. You may have a few good thoughts scattered in the mix, but if we don’t take control over the thoughts that enter our minds early in the morning, those negative thoughts can set the tone for the day ahead. Have you ever been making your morning coffee, (if you drink coffee), or getting ready for work and you have a random thought about the things you don’t like about a person, things they do wrong, or things that aggravate you. These thoughts are sent as fiery darts from the devil to get our minds going in a wrong direction. If we accept these wrong thoughts we can develop a pattern of negative thinking that controls our life! We have to think about what we are thinking about!
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he… Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)
The Bible says to set your mind and keep it set. Set it on things that are good! When you start to think negative thoughts about someone or a situation, immediately recognize that those thoughts are not from God, they are from the devil. Instead of focusing on the 10% that people do wrong, focus on the 90% they do right! If we are critical and judgemental of others, we will eventually reap what we sow. We have to stop… and begin to speak the Word of God out loud over our mind. When the devil tempted Jesus, He spoke to the devil and told him, “It is written!” We have that same power to speak to our enemy and he has to go.
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Philippians 4:8 (MSG)
Your thoughts are powerful. What’s going on in your head today? Are your thoughts pulling you down, causing you to feel defeated, hopeless, or discouraged. If so, today is your day to start thinking differently. Begin to clear away the clutter in your mind. Ask God to help you take control over the wrong thoughts and begin to think on the good. The only way to change your thinking is to get into the Word of God (The Bible) and let God’s Word renew your mind. We change from the inside out. If you are not happy with your life take a look at your thoughts. Change your thinking and you will change your life!!! It takes work! We have to be diligent to spend time in the Word of God & prayer. Confess the Word over yourself daily. See my post in May on “Your Words Have Power,” for a list of positive confessions.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)
God has such an amazing life for us to live! When we can get aligned with the Word of God, everything begins to fall into place. Do a clean sweep today. Get rid of the clutter in your mind. Let go of the things that hold you back. Forgive, be free, change your thoughts and you will change your life. 🙂 Smile – today is going to be a great day!
