It’s a proven fact that people are 10% happier on Friday. That’s great news because today happens to be Friday! Why is that the case? Maybe it’s because it’s the end of the week, we are looking forward to the weekend, relaxation, or something fun we have planned to do. There is a great book out by Joel Osteen entitled, “Everyday A Friday.” One of the key points in the book is that no matter what circumstance or situation comes your way you can always choose your response.
“Most people are as happy as they have decided to be.” Abraham Lincoln
Have you ever found yourself saying things like, “I’ll be happy when…” You fill in the blank. We’ve all said it. The funny thing is when we finally get what we said would make us happy, most of the time it only makes us happy for a moment. I recently said this, “I’ll be happy when I can go on vacation.” I went on vacation and it was great, but shortly after I got home again I felt like I needed another vacation. Why can’t we live everyday like we are on vacation, or like it’s Friday? It’s all about our choices. If we choose to be happy today, we will be happy. It doesn’t have to be Friday for us to be happy and we don’t have to be on vacation. You can be happy on Monday too! It’s about programming our minds to stay positive and choose joy, no matter what the circumstances are around us.
A lot of times we allow our mood to dictate our happiness in life. A mood is an emotional state of mind. The dictionary says it like this: A prevailing emotional tone or general attitude, a frame of mind. We can allow our mood to make our day or break our day. We can wake up in a bad mood for no apparent reason. We can allow what people do or say to us change our mood, but the key is you are in charge of your mood. You can change it, and you can choose joy today.
4 Easy Ways to change your mood:
2) Take a break – when work gets you stressed, get up from your desk and take a break. Get a snack, go outside. Listen to a happy song on your iPod. Music changes your mood. Do jumping jacks in the bathroom and make a silly face at yourself in the mirror. You will feel better, trust me.
3) Pray – Ask God to help you. Get with God and have a little talk.
4) Let it go– most of the things that get us in a bad mood don’t matter anyway. Just let it go and choose not to go there.
“I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 AMP
God wants us to enjoy our lives everyday, living to the fullest. Go out into your world today and LIVE. Be thankful for what God has done, what He is doing and what He is about to do in your life. Don’t let things get you down. Expect something good today! Seize the day! Make your life extraordinary!
